Breast Imaging Matters is a 501(c)(3) Oklahoma nonprofit organization bringing professional breast cancer risk assessment and education directly into the workplace.

During a Workplace Risk Assessment Day, employees complete an individual breast cancer risk assessment and have the opportunity to review their results privately, one-on-one with a registered mammography technologist — right onsite.

Employees leave with a better understanding of their personal risk, what their results mean, and what questions or next steps they may need to discuss with their healthcare provider.

What Happens During a Workplace Risk Assessment Day?

Employees Complete Their Risk Assessment

Employees complete a confidential assessment using their personal and family health history. The assessment may help identify factors associated with increased breast cancer risk or hereditary cancer risk.

Results Are Reviewed One-on-One

Each participating employee has the opportunity to privately review their results with a registered mammography technologist.

We help explain the information in an easy-to-understand way and provide education based on their individual results.

Employees Leave With Their Information

Participants can receive their risk report through secure electronic communication or request a printed copy to take with them.

Navigation When It's Needed

When an assessment identifies potential increased risk, Breast Imaging Matters can provide education and navigation related to appropriate next steps, which may include discussing:

• Earlier or additional breast screening with their healthcare provider
• High-risk breast screening
• Genetic counseling or testing
• Available breast health resources
• Questions to take back to their healthcare provider

The goal is simple: employees leave knowing more about their personal risk and what to do next.

What Your Workplace Provides

Hosting BIM is simple.

We ask participating workplaces to provide:

• A private space away from regular foot traffic
• A small table and two chairs
• Access to power and Wi-Fi, when available
• Restroom access
• An internal contact who can help share participation information with employees before the event

Breast Imaging Matters handles the risk assessment, education, reports, and participant navigation.

Flexible for Your Workforce

Workplace Risk Assessment Days can be structured around the size and needs of your organization.

Breast Imaging Matters can work with employers to determine an appropriate event schedule, and larger organizations may request extended hours or additional event days.

Employees participate voluntarily, and their individual risk information is kept separate from their employer.

Employers do not receive employees' individual health or risk assessment results.

How Workplace Risk Assessment Days Are Funded

There is no cost to individual employees.

Breast Imaging Matters is a nonprofit organization, and Workplace Risk Assessment Days are supported through charitable contributions from participating employers and community partners.

There is no fixed event fee. Employers may support the program based on their organization's size, available budget, and ability to give.

Employer contributions help Breast Imaging Matters continue providing free breast cancer risk assessment, education, and navigation throughout Oklahoma.
