Our Mission
Breast Imaging Matters was created because too many women are told that if they don’t have a family history, they don’t need to worry yet. But 70–80% of breast cancers occur in women with no reported family history.
Risk matters — even when your family history doesn’t show it.
My own story is proof. My mom was diagnosed at 50. Even if I followed the “start at 40” rule, I still would have been screened too late. But with a gene mutation and a clinically aligned risk assessment, I qualified for screening at 30, including annual MRI. That early start changed the entire trajectory of my care.
Most primary care providers collect your family history — but they’re not plugging it into a validated risk calculator that can qualify you for earlier screening, genetic testing, or MRI with a doctor’s order covered by insurance. We are.
That’s why I’m building a community‑based navigation model: a place where women can understand their personal risk early, get connected to the right imaging or genetics providers, and receive guidance based on their individual situation — not a one‑size‑fits‑all age guideline.
No woman should be overlooked simply because she didn’t know her risk or didn’t have someone to guide her.
